In today’s world, patients can access their health care information through a portal that is updated by their health team, but are these innovative tools available to everyone? In this article, Latonya Riddle-Jones, M.D., MPH, associate center director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at Karmanos and assistant professor at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, said we’re leaving a large population behind. She described why this is happening and explained why DEI initiatives and training are so important when working in the health care system.
