Endometrial hyperplasia is the crowding of glands in the endometrium, making the lining thicker. Symptoms may include heavy and extended periods, bleeding between menstrual cycles, a change in the length of the period, and bleeding after menopause. If left untreated, there could be a risk of cancer. Ira Winer, M.D., Ph.D., FACOG, gynecologic oncologist and member of the Gynecologic Oncology Multidisciplinary Team, explained the types of endometrial hyperplasia and the recommended treatments.
