As a leader in cancer research, Karmanos is able to offer patients access to innovative treatments and clinical trials that are often times not available anywhere else.
To offer hope and longer life to patients with all types of cancer, Karmanos offers the latest types of therapy through our clinical trials program. Through clinical trials, we are creating new knowledge about how therapies fight cancer and provide national leadership in testing these new therapies.
We understand that cancer is a complex disease that demands complex care. We provide each patient with a dynamic, carefully constructed treatment plan focused on their specific cancer and their unique needs.
We listen to you to design a plan that provides you with respect, compassionate care and is responsive to your emotional and practical concerns.

The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center, located in midtown Detroit, is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center in southeast Michigan and one of just 57 centers of its kind in the United States. That means patients can access treatments exclusive to Karmanos as well as clinical trials, cancer prevention programs and multidisciplinary teams of cancer specialists — a comprehensive approach you cannot find at a community hospital. Because comprehensive cancer centers are at the forefront of cancer research, they can often handle patient cases that are more complex. At any given time, Karmanos is conducting an average of 700 cancer-specific clinical trials and research projects.
At Karmanos, as the only freestanding cancer hospital in Michigan, we are exclusively focused on providing our patients with every resource to give them their best chance at a favorable outcome.
Patient & Visitor Map
By extending our comprehensive cancer care to more communities, we are giving patients easy access to treatment at locations near home or work. In Oakland County, patients can seek treatment at the full-service outpatient oncology center in Farmington Hills.

Throughout the course of our lifetimes, 1 in 2 men, and 1 in 3 women will receive a cancer diagnosis. Our physicians specialize in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of specific types of cancer. In fact, the Karmanos Cancer Center is the only hospital in Michigan focused solely on cancer. That means we’re completely devoted to offering every patient the best treatment options that lead to the best possible outcomes.
