Christian Hyde, M.D., DABR is a board-certified radiation oncologist. Only a small percentage of radiation specialists have completed a fellowship training program in proton therapy. During 2018-2019, Dr. Hyde subspecialized in proton therapy and related studies at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Hyde has concentrated his practice on promising new technologies, like proton therapy, to offer his cancer patients the most current treatment options available.
Dr. Hyde started practicing at McLaren in 2019. Before coming to McLaren, Dr. Hyde earned his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine, where he also completed his four-year residency in radiation oncology. He practiced with the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer network in Utah for six years, then for six years in Atlanta, Georgia, where he helped launch a brand-new cancer-only hospital.
Dr. Hyde has specialized interests in proton therapy for complex cancers, re-irradiation and radiosurgery of the brain, lung and liver. One of the things that drew Dr. Hyde to radiation oncology was its ability to help spare patients from disfiguring or disabling radical surgeries that are commonly used to remove the breast, prostate and voice box. He works as a tireless partner with other physicians, including surgeons and medical oncologists who may prescribe chemotherapy or immunotherapy in combination with radiation therapy. Dr. Hyde is active in clinical research and has enrolled patients in exciting new clinical trials through the Karmanos Cancer Network. Dr. Hyde is dedicated to patient-centered care and is proud to be part of the McLaren Proton Therapy Center and the larger Karmanos Cancer Institute team.
