Communities and Science
We recognize the community as a valuable asset. By linking the community to science, we enable them to have a voice in ensuring our research aligns with the unique needs of the community to drive change. We accomplish this through our partnerships with members of the HealthLink Cancer Action Councils and with community-based organizations through the Research Advocacy Consortium.
We also capture and publicly share cancer-related data on the Karmanos Cancer Institute catchment area. Scientific data and perspectives from the community help to guide and inform our cancer research, educational outreach activities, strategies to increase recruitment into cancer clinical trials, and the development of our Community Conversations in Cancer.
